Universal gets hit with million dollar fine

Universal Property and Casualty Insurance Company was recently hit with a $1.26 Million fine due to bad faith claims, handling complaints, rate filings and issues concerning financial transactions and underwriting.  They were also accused of providing their policyholders with insufficient notice on coverage cancellations by the State Office of Insurance Regulation.  Universal has 542,000 policyholders and $765 Billion in written annual premiums in the State of Florida.
